Scalp 101
Your scalp is the soil for your hair.
Before any product, Dr. Zulaikha Hanif teaches one idea: your scalp is the soil, and your hair is what grows from it. Look after the soil and the growing conditions look after themselves.

Healthy scalp, healthy growth
Every strand of hair begins in a follicle set in the skin of your scalp. That means hair quality is downstream of scalp condition. A calm, clean, well-fed scalp gives hair the best environment it can have to grow well.
This is why the Clean–Cure–Grow method works in that order. We clean the scalp properly first, treat what needs treating second, and only then look at supporting growth. Skipping ahead rarely helps.
What gets in the way
In Singapore's heat and humidity, sebum, sweat, dead skin and styling product build up quickly. Left sitting on the scalp, that layer can congest the follicle opening and leave the scalp feeling heavy, itchy or odorous by the end of the day.
- Sebum is normal and protective — it only becomes a problem when it accumulates.
- Dead skin cells shed continuously; without proper washing they mix with oil and product.
- Sweat adds salt and moisture that irritation and odour thrive in.
- Residue from an incomplete rinse quietly adds to all of the above.
Circulation delivers the nutrients
Follicles are fed by the small blood vessels around them. A short fingertip massage during each wash supports circulation at the scalp surface and, just as importantly, makes sure your cleanser actually reaches the skin rather than sitting in the hair.
Two to three minutes of gentle massage is enough. Pressure is not the point — consistency is.
A gentle suggestion
If you are starting from scratch, a lightweight detox cleanser is the honest first step — nothing else is needed yet.
